I am really excited about this week’s Metamorphosis Monday.
Met Monday is hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.
It’s a chance for us bloggers to showcase our “Before and After” Projects. Thanks Susan, as always for hosting this event.
Please visit Susan’s site for a complete list of all Met Monday participants.
This week for Met Monday, I decided to show you these cute little wine glasses I purchased. They will be featured in this week’s Tablescape Thursday post.
Where did I buy them you ask? Okay…I didn’t buy them this way. But I did have lots of fun making them.
I love to take simple stickers, sticky-back jewels, ribbons and craft paints and turn plain ordinary glasses, goblets and tumblers into unique, one-of-a-kind glasses that fit the theme of my tablescape or party.
Now keep in mind, these designs are only meant to be temporary. But, that is the best part. You can take inexpensive Dollar Store glasses and re-create them again and again to suite your occasion.
Like most people, I have an assortment of “everyday” stemware, bar glasses, etc – that I would never classify as expensive nor irreplaceable. But – sometimes when I have a luncheon or host a shower, etc , and feel that my ornate crystal is too much – I simply dress up these ordinary glasses.
This is one of two glasses I will be using in my next Tablescape. It is a green tinted tumbler. I added a black and white polka dot ribbon, and two stickers found in the scrapbooking section.
You’ve probably guessed from the sticker that my tablescape will be a wine tasting theme. To finish the look, I added some self-adhesive, mini green gems. I love the extra sparkle.
This is the other glass I will be using. It does not exactly show it here, but it is also green tinted.
I added a green and white polka dot ribbon (see the theme coming together here?)…and also a small sticker from the same “Wine Tasting” scrapbook sticker card. The few extra sparklies finished the look.
Generally, when you buy a package of scrapbooking stickers…there are 6 or more of assorted designs on one card. That’s okay…I love that each glass is unique and has its own little sticker. You can use matching ribbons and gems to tie all the glasses together.
*(hint: smaller sized stickers work best and adhere to the glasses better.)
These are called Gel Stickers. They cost $1 for the pack of four. It turns a plain ole’ glass into a beachy, shellfish-covered tumbler.
Even if you feel you are not an artist – and trust me – I am NOT an artist – you can create this look with craft paints and a few minutes of spare time. If you want something more permanent, then I suggest that you use an appropriate glass painting medium. The above design was created with plain ole’ craft paints. After the party, I can simply run them through the dishwasher and they will be ready for the next event.
I think these glasses would be perfect for a Ladies Luncheon with my blue and white transferware plates. The “G” initial was a rub-on transfer..and the rose stickers were again, from the scrapbooking section. You could apply different initials for each guest’s name.
Here’s a close-up view…how pretty is that rose?
I love how this rose design is a 3-D effect.
How perfect is this for a casual Easter brunch? A themed Easter ribbon is wrapped around the glass, and assorted Easter egg stickers on added.
Every guest will remember these glasses at the next Baby Shower you host. Assorted stickers and pink and green sparklies are the perfect combination.
Look in the novelty section at the craft store. This small ornamentation was found in the New Baby section of Michael’s and makes the perfect wine glass “charm.”
… and for my fave…
I love this simple pink and black design. The black and white polka dot ribbon and the pink sparklies says “Tres Chic.”
And if you have any leftover stickers…I’m sure you can always find good use for them. 🙂
I hope you have enjoyed seeing all the changes you can make to your everyday glassware with a little imagination and some craft store stickers. The possibilities are endless. I would love to see some of the ideas you can create with your own glasses .
May Your Day Be Filled With “Sparklies”….Barb

Great and darling ideas Barb!
View CommentI did something like this for a Christmas party, instead of those charm things to use to tell whos glass is whos. I just put different Christmas stickers on real but inexpensive wine glasses I got at Linens and Things. Then I just had to wash the stickers or soak them off afterwards. Saved the case of glasses for next party and whatever theme that will be.
