Welcome to the 3rd Tabletop Tuesday!
I am really starting to look forward to Tuesdays, because I am getting so much inspiration from everyone’s posts. But best of all, I love seeing the little glimpses throughout your home that showcase your style, your history and your passions. Thank you for sharing them with all of us.
So…to give you a brief medical update (I know, NOT why you came here huh!) –
I had my gallbladder removed last Wednesday. Long story short….none of the symptoms have subsided. I am back to square one…back to the surgeon tomorrow.
So, I am sorry to say this week’s Tabletop Tuesday post will be “borrowed inspiration” from http://www.bhg.com/ .
Please make sure your post is complete before you add your link. Also, please add the shortcut link directly to your post, and not just your blog’s URL. I have provided a small button below if you wish to add it to your sidebar or post. It’s not necessary to add the button, but I do ask that you link back to this site, as well as, mention this blog party.
Thanks again for joining in….whether you are posting…or simply enjoying all the eye candy. 🙂

As I get older, I find myself wanting to add more house plants in my home. I have never had an “interior” green thumb. Give me herbs or vegetables or annuals…and I can grow a lovely garden. Not so much with houseplants.
But, I love how a simply houseplant can be added to a unique container …and you have an instant “accessory.”
I love how the spanish moss covers the dirt at the base of the plant, but also adds texture and a touch of “woodsy” appeal.
I love the earthiness of the terra cotta pots placed inside the delicate, white saucers.
I have discovered that even a “brown” thumb can generally grow snake plants. 🙂
I love how these plants “beautify” the corner of this mantle.
Green plants nestled in a blue and white bowl. Splendid!
But, even if you’re not a plant lover, or cannot have plants in your home for whatever reason (I have to be careful with my fur babies), Mother Nature offers a wonderful array of choices for your accessorizing needs.
Fresh or dried artichokes in a plain glass bowl. Understated and beautiful!
A bundle of rose hips tied with a green satin bow…simple yet elegant, too.
Lemons! Need I say more?
And, when all else fails….let’s not forget one of Mother Nature’s most cherished offerings….fresh blossoms and cuttings. I love the juxtaposition of the tarnished silver urn with the pink crocus, especially when set against a backdrop of white subway tile. mmmm…..just Heaven!
I can’t wait to see your Tabletops, Vignettes and Favorite Accessories. Please add your link below….and provide a few words to describe your post.
Thanks again for making this weekly blog party and success….and so much fun!
Happy Tabletop Tuesday….Barb

You had surgery this past week? Yikes! Thanks for hosting when you are recovering from surgery! I hope they find what’s bothering you soon!
I love this post with the plants, fruit and vegetables! I haven’t seen it before, so thanks for re-posting!
Get well soon!

Sorry you aren’t feeling any better. If things don’t improve, you may need to have a test called an ERCP. They do it in x-ray, under sedation. It will look for a missed stne or problem with sphincter. Suggest it to the surgeon if all else fails.

Love the inspiration pictures and my link-up has a plant, although it’s fake!
Sorry to hear you aren’t feeling well and actually had surgery. I don’t know if you mentioned what you are going through earlier, but I went through my own issues with stomach pain for several years. Turned out I had Celiac Disease and had to go on a gluten free diet. What’s worse is I diagnosed myself!

Barb, I am so sorry that things are not better by now after your surgery. I hate that you are still in such pain. I will continue to pray for an answer to the problem real soon.
All of the pics of the plants and the beautiful containers are just gorgeous. I can’t grow any houseplants, so I just resort to the faux kind, but I do agree that they really do wake up a room. Great post. Hugs, Marty

My new year resolution was to use more houseplants! I just know there is a green thumb in me somewhere!

We have a few living plants, too. Pothos is so easy to grow and really makes a statement, when it is vining, thickly.

Bet you will be glad to feel fit as a fiddle again…soon 🙂
Thanks for sharing the vignettes of plants and flowers. I especially miss the color and greenery this time of year.
I had fun doing my vignette this week and hope you can find a moment to visit.

I can’t grow any houseplants. I will just watch them die away and throw them out.
View CommentI do better outdoors where they are tough and sturdy and the rain can water them.
Gosh I hope you are okay. Take it easy.

Hi Barb I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well, please let me know what the Dr says, you know we all worry about you in the neighborhood. Love all the picts of the plants. I love real plants and real flowers, I know you know that about me. I have two real plants that I have had for years but this year they bit the dust. Did not make it through their annual holiday neglect. I have replaced them. I also have two artificial ficus but would much rather have real, they just die on me. Feel Better, Kathysue

Your house plants are lovely as the pots they are in! I love the lemons! The flowers in the tarnish pot, but most of all I adore the rose hips! What a wonderful way to display them! How I wish I would have saved some of mine. But as you say a surgery make stop you from doing some things! Get Well Soon.

House plants and I aren’t friends, I even have fake plants in my terrariums 🙂

Sorry you are still having problems – hope they find the problem soon.
View CommentI use to have many house plants, but they don’t get the right light where I am now, so am down to one.

Barb although very inspiring, I just kill every plant I even look at! Although I have a X-mas cactus still thriving since last X-mas, it even had a few buds on it this year! Hope you feel better soon, that stinks you went thru surgery and no better. Are you sensitive to Gluten? Did they test you for celiac spru? I spelled it incorrect I am sure!! I bet you have had the once over…..wishing you well soon!

Very sorry to read you are still in pain AFTER you had surgery. That is not fun. Your borrowed post was a good one, and I’m surprised you had the energy to come up with one. Needless to say, with my business I have oddles of silk plants sitting around, although I love a few real ones here and there. I too love using artichokes and lemons, although mine are usually faux. 😉

Barb, I’m so sorry that the surgery did not help with the pain. I was really hoping that this would give you some relief. I love this post, I have a horribly brown thumb. But I think I could manage to keep dried artichokes “alive” lol. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! Hugs, Kat

Hi Barb! Somehow, I blog-hopped and stumbled my way here, but it has been a pleasant surprise to meet you! Finding it difficult to pry myself away, I have gone back as far (skipping a “few” posts, mind you) January 2009! I found it most interesting how you were experimenting with your “soffit”, when all day long today, I was doing the same thing!!!.. And here I didn’t even know what a “soffit” WAS!.. So, it’s been fun, and inspiring.. and even comforting (0; that a talented decorator as yourself either makes her mistakes, or changes her mind too (plaid wallpaper), and heads back to the drawing board! As I head back to my own work here, it’s been fun seeing all you’ve done with your beautiful home! Thanks! ~tina

Love your Tabletop Tuesdays meme! Hope to join in one of these weeks. Great examples of how to brighten a home with plants. The greenery just seems to go with every decor and adds so much life…even the faux kind that I have to resort to!
