These Are a Few of My Favorite Things for Fall
From pumpkins to sweaters and soups… all of the things I think of when I think of Fall. I am sharing a few of my favorite things here with you today.
Cooler weather and pumpkins, fall leaves and sweaters. I could go on and on when it comes to my favorite things for Fall. I was asked once why I loved Fall so much.
I simply answered – because it’s a time of thankfulness and when the Earth prepares for a Winter slumber. Oh – I love Christmas, also. With a passion and for entirely different reasons. But to me, Christmas can be a stressful time. With Fall, it’s all about the colors and the seasons and a time to just enjoy a special time of the year.
I could tell you what my favorite things are….but I would much rather show you.

I am so happy to be part of a small blog hop today called…
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things – Fall Edition.
Please visit the blogs at the bottom of this post who are also participating. I can’t wait for you to see what they are sharing also.

I haven’t started working on our front porch for this year – I would rather the pumpkins not melt in the 90 degree heat. LOL But, this was one of my favorite Fall porches in the history of Fall Porches at The Everyday Home.
I love a fabulous front porch filled to the brim with pumpkins and corn and inviting pillows.
And mums. Lots and lots of mums. To see my Fall Porch CLICK HERE.
My second pick for Favorite Fall Things are Wreaths. Love them. As in….LOVE them. Love making them, love using them, love seeing beautiful wreaths in other people’s homes, as well. I love to hang large wreaths on the mirror in our foyer. This one above is one of my absolute fave Fall Wreaths.
As the Seasons change, me and Cleetus have a little discussion on how we will decorate the eucalyptus wreath which hangs around his neck. The wreath above was incredibly easy to make, and I shared how to use store-bought floral picks to transform a plain wreath.
This year, I used several rustic elements like chicken wire and a reclaimed wood frame to create a Fall Farmhouse Wreath.
Last year was the first Fall after we made a drastic Rustic Farmhouse upgrade to our fireplace and mantel. Our friendly houseguest “Buck” stood sentry over a collection of pumpkins, berries and sunflowers.
We have another mantel in our English-Inspired Family Room. This is one of the Fall Mantels I created a few years ago, with some Thrift Store dishes that were a steal. A large centerpiece in a Vietri Pottery Soup Tureen took center place.
This year’s Fall Farmhouse Mantel uses a few more of my fave “vintage” things – old books. I collect them based not only on the Title but also for their colors.
I don’t know what I enjoy better….looking at other’s amazing Tablescapes or creating them myself. There is something amazing soothing and calming about pulling out silverware and stemware and napkins – then making a unique centerpiece that reflects the colors and styles of your table. It also helps that I am a dish addict. The Fall Tablescape above features a project for DIY Plaid Chargers.
Last year’s Fall Table in our Dining Room featured two DIY Pumpkin Candleholders that anchored each end. I called it my Rustic-Elegant Fall Tablescape.
Another one of my fave tablescapes used a lot of natural elements taken right from our own yard. Fall leaves and rosemary and locally grown NC cotton.
Simple brown paper turned into a tablecloth allowed each guest to share things they were grateful.
Fall + Pumpkin + Pumpkin Spice = Heaven! 🙂 This recipe for Pumpkin French Toast is a family fave.
I took my mama’s Southern Whoopie Pie recipe and turned it into a pumpkin version – Fall style. Pumpkin Whoopie Pies are a must try.
Finally – one of my fave cakes and I make it several times during the season when apples are at their freshest. Rich with dried cranberries and walnuts – I love it toasted in the morning with my coffee. This Apple-Cranberry Cake will become one of your Fall faves too.
