Hello my Everyday Friends!
I have sooo missed you.
I have been away for a while because my sweet
Daddy has been very sick for over two weeks
and was in the hospital for the past 8 days,
and I pretty much stayed by his side the entire time.
But, I am happy to say he is home and we
are so blessed he is on the way to being
fully recovered.
I am thrilled that Mary Beth with
Cupcakes and Crinoline is back with
another yummy recipe, and I love this one.
Hamburger Steak with
Onion-Mushroom Gravy
yummmm!
Hi everyone!
I am so excited to be here again with you today
as a monthly contributor for The Everyday Home ~
a big hug and thank you to our hostess, Barb.
If you don’t know me I’m Mary Beth from
Cupcakes and Crinoline ~ my spot where I share
my love for all things home including recipes,
homemaking tips, crafts, DIY’s and other
great tips on making your busy life a little bit easier.
Today I’m sharing another of my favorite recipes~
Hamburger Steak with
Onion-Mushroom Gravy.
It’s a basic main dish that you can add to your
recipe box and pull out when you want to make
something everyone will enjoy ~
think Sunday Dinner.
Ingredients:
1 box of dry stuffing mix ~ turkey flavor {this is my secret ingredient!}
2 lbs. ground round
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
2 (1.2-ounce) envelopes brown gravy mix
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 (8-ounce) packages fresh mushrooms
1 medium-size yellow onion thinly sliced
1. Place first 6 ingredients in a large bowl and
mix thoroughly using your hands
{that’s the reason there aren’t pictures of this process…
my hands were all meaty}.
Shape into 8 equal-sized patties.
2. Whisk together brown gravy mix with water
following directions on package.
3. Heat oil in a good quality skillet ~ I use my
cast iron skillet. Add patties and cook over
medium-high heat 2 minutes on each side
until browned. Remove from skillet.
4. Add mushrooms and onion to skillet and
saute until tender; approximately 6 minutes.
5. Stir in prepared grave and bring to a light boil.
6. Return patties to skillet and cover with gravy
mixture. Cover skillet, reduce heat to low and
simmer 10 minutes.
Serve hot with some homemade mashed potatoes
and a green veggie and you have a meal to make
the whole family happy.
If you keep the basics on hand for this recipe you
can make it quickly when unexpected guests
drop by and you want to share a meal with them.
This recipe can be easily halved or doubled but as
is will feed 6 with some extras.
Mary Beth had me at “Sunday dinner.”
This is actually one of our family’s favorite
go-to meals. I know you can’t wait to try
out this recipe, too.
