Busch Gardens, Virginia
Come along with me for a family vacation to one of the prettiest amusement parks in America – Busch Gardens – The Ole Country, located in beautiful Williamsburg, Virginia.
This past week, The Hubbs and I – along with my son and daughter-in-law, our 6 yr old Grandson, our 2-yr old Grandson and our new 3-week old Granddaughter – headed to Williamsburg, VA for a few days.
Let me just tell you – that was one packed mini-van. Two strollers, a pack ‘n play, 3 car seats, 2 diaper bags, a toy and activity bag, a cooler and enough luggage for an invading Army unit.
Good thing our numerous past military moves gave us Professional Packer status. 🙂
So what is the one thing that a Blogger doesn’t leave home without? Of course, a camera.
Here is Miss C checking out the bed in her first ever motel room. Looks like she did not find it satisfactory to her needs.
Our day at Busch Gardens started out with the purchase of two goofy dinosaur hats. How else do you start your day?
Mama and Daddy and the boys playing games.
Cole won the ring toss game and chose this stuffed toy for his baby sister. Love that child!
The Hubbs and our sweet Roo!
Teaching Brother how to drive the Ladybug car. Busch Gardens claims it is the “Prettiest Park in the Country.” I have not been to every park in the Country but I do know it is an absolutely beautiful park.
Look at this beautiful fountain in “Germany.”
I have lived and traveled all over Europe, and I can tell you I am amazed at the authenticity.
I took pictures of the other Countries, as well, but someone was playing with the camera on the way home and these were the pics I found.
So can you guess what happened to the other pics? 🙂
You just know I was checking out the hanging baskets and such.
We couldn’t leave without a visit to see Elmo.
We had mile-high Black Forest chocolate cake at the Festhaus.
Ohhhh yea.
We stayed at the Marriott Williamsburg Hotel. We pretty much stick to this chain because it rarely lets us down.
The Lobby was beautiful. Very traditional and classic.
I love that they had a lot of chairs, in different styles, but with coordinating fabrics.
When I used to design professionally, I would tell my clients to visit such places as Hotels and Motels for inspiration. Although the scale was different, etc, the theory of design was generally a good one.
(if done correctly I should add)
Loved these chairs.
Look at the backs of them.
They had two beautiful stone fireplaces.
Look at this beautiful, tile mural depicting Colonial Williamsburg.
The Lobby was sectioned off in lots of smaller sitting areas. I thought it was simply beautiful.
Speaking of “beautiful” – while we were gone I had the just recently painted Living Room painted again! 🙂
Here is the Before/Before in Red…
Here is the Before/After in Laura Ashley Navy…
…and here is the After/After in Summer Cottage Blue by Valspar.
I thought I was going to go with Bird Song Blue like is in my kitchen but after testing some samples I loved this color more.
This was taken with my phone so its not the greatest of pics,
and to be honest it doesn’t reveal how pretty this color truly is.
Does the mess look a little déja vu to you? I had the very same mess to deal with the last time it was painted. If my Painter really loved me, he would paint, put everything back exactly as I had it, dust, vacuum and do a load of laundry while he was there. 🙂 Oh ok, he did feed my cats so I guess I can’t complain.
I can’t wait to “play” in this room this coming weekend.
I HATE the plaid wing back chair in there now, so I see some white slipcovers being produced in the future for both the chair and the sofa. But, for now, it will have to suffice.
Do you remember the two colorful Pier1 pillows I showed you, which were bought specifically for the Laura Ashley Navy color?
Well, they don’t work with the Summer Cottage Blue – so I
thought I would give them away here to a lucky follower.
I will post the give-away next week.
Here is a better picture from the Pier1 site…
Hope you’re having a wondermous day!

What cute grandchildren you have! And how nice of big brother to win a prize for his baby sister. That is so sweet. I went to Busch Gardens in 1975 – probably the first year it opened. It looks like everybody had a great time.

Oh, the baby is beautiful, Barb! I think the sheets weren’t a high enough thread count. : ) How cute the boys are; a sister must be a novelty to them. I haven’t been to Busch Gardens in years and would love to go again some time. I think it’s about a 7 hour drive from where we live now.

Looks like you had a fun time! I do like the new paint in the living room, but am still partial to red. I also understand about re-painting. I have NEVER been indecisive about paint colors, but am on about color no. 10 (just a sample on most of them) in my living room!
