Welcome to the
All Things Home Fall Tour 2013
25 Blogs, One Week, 25 Beautiful Fall-filled Homes
You can see the complete weekly schedule HERE, and I will post the
other four bloggers sharing their homes today at the bottom.
Can I just be honest here for a minute. I have a love/hate relationship
with these Home Tours.
On one hand I absolutely LOVE that you guys want to come visit me
and see my home dressed in its Autumn finery.
On the other hand, I totally stress out to the max. Will they like it or
will they hate it? Will they go into the bathroom and snicker behind
my back? Will they drink all my wine while I’m not looking?
But, I would not miss this for the world, and love having all of you
guys over for a visit. (Thank goodness I bought extra wine!) So grab
a glass (or two if it’s been that kind of week) – and enjoy the tour.
The Front Porch
Okay, I have a small confession. These pics are from last year.
(shhhhh….)
I am still working on our front porch, and will be sharing
our fully decorated Porch soon, so I thought I
would show you what last year’s looked like.
See more details of my 2012 Fall Porch.
Please come inside…
The vintage chest in the foyer features one of my newest
chalkboard signs* which I now carry in my online shop,
The Everyday Home Shops. This is one of my faves
and one I will keep.
BTW, if you see an asterisk (*) by a name of an accessory, it is a product
I carry in my shop.
A Frenchy-metal bucket* is filled with a white mum, blue
hydrangea and fall leaves.
Heirloom Pumpkins on wood candlesticks add a pop of color.
The Living Room
I remember thinking when we painted this room blue that
it would be difficult to decorate for Fall. Blue isn’t exactly the
first color that comes to mind when you think
of Autumn.
What I discovered is that pops of orange are a perfect
compliment to the blue, and I love how the soft
blue palette welcomes some rustic touches…
Such as this stenciled-burlap pillow.
I love this saying and you will see it used again later.
Another rustic touch is this Farmhouse Dough Bowl
filled to the brim with pumpkins…
Hydrangea, Cotton and grapevine add texture.
The English Hutch doors are dressed with bundles of
more cotton and greenery tied with burlap bows.
More Heirloom Pumpkins keep my
“Sit a Spell” Chair company.
Roo wanted to help out with the decorating, too, and this
was his contribution.
I think he has a good eye. He matched his dinosaur to the room.
Even my favorite bunny is getting into the spirit of Fall…
Who says bunnies are for Spring only?
His basket is full of acorns he has gathered for the upcoming Winter.
The Kitchen
Our kitchen is where my true love of Farmhouse comes out.
I think it’s because I associate the kitchen with my Mama,
and that brings back so many memories of being raised on
a farm.
Here are a few of the Fall touches scattered about…
On the island, I have Mr White Pig…
A large white bowl is filled with ornamental mustard,
kale and mini pumpkins. More mini pumpkins
and acorns fill a small dough bowl.
You can read all about Mr. White Pig HERE and
how he came to be in our home.
Cotton* stems in a vintage crock, and a pumpkin in a vintage
kitchen scale.
Another vintage dough bowl filled with mini pumpkins…
And isn’t this the most adorable egg cup?*
Egg under glass.
And I’m not sure, but do you think my Menu Board* is varied enough?
Let’s move into The Breakfast Room…
If you remember during the 2013 Summer Home Tour, I introduced you
to Cleetus*, the newest farm animal at The Everyday Home.
Cleetus got dressed up just for you with his best Cotton Wreath*.
Remember that beautiful burlap pillow in the Living Room?
(Still practicing my chalkboard art.)
He is quite proud of his cotton “necklace.”
Look at the smile on his face.
A tray of pumpkins and bittersweet adorns the top
of the blue chest…
Over on the other side of the table is the black hutch…
Ceramic pumpkin tureens were filled with mini cabbage
plants…
A Wooden Carpenter’s Box is filled with white mums, ferns,
moss, fall leaves and bittersweet.
I think Mr. Cow Creamer* is quite happy being amongst the
pumpkins and mums.
The one feature of my kitchen which I love the most is the
Fall arrangement on my Breakfast Table…
A large, wooden tray* is filled to the brim with white pitchers
and an assortment of Fall loveliness…
Cabbages and decorative mustard, heirloom pumpkins, and rosemary
are just a few of the additions…
A small chalkboard sign completely describes how I feel every
day of my life, and I try to remind myself as often as possible…
Amen! Thank you Jesus!
Now, let’s move into The Dining Room.
This is where we leave Farmhouse-style behind, and
head into the English countryside.
It’s also where I have paid homage to my favorite
designer…Charles Faudree.
You could say I “Faudree’d” my Dining Room for Fall.
Welcome to my Pink and Brown Autumn Dining Room…
Pink and Brown? Yes.
Not traditional, I know. But, I love how it turned out.
We added a temporary stained-wood facade to the fireplace
above the mantel. I love the warm tone it adds to the room.
“Buck” wasn’t too sure about being surrounded by so
much pink, but I assured him he was quite regal standing
guard over the Dining Room.
Two metal urns are filled with tall twigs, pink hydrangea,
pink pumpkins, dried artichokes and dried hops.
Small decorative, votive holders rest on cream cupcake stands.*
A pink Staffordshire platter and brown transferware plates
were placed on the mantel.
The Dining table arrangement echoes the same color scheme
and theme of the mantel…
Pink and grapevine pumpkins, dried grapevine, and deer antlers*
are just a few of the items in this table vignette.
Johnson Brothers plates on vintage books stand on each side of
the arrangement in the Pink Staffordshire Soup Tureen.
On the Dining Room bowfront chest, a Spode Breadbox
is filled with more ornamental cabbages and mustard plants,
hydrangea, hops, apples and beautiful pheasant feathers.
More pink and brown accents complete the vignette…
The soft, pink Velvet Pumpkin was recently sent to me by a dear
friend when she found out I was doing a Pink and Brown
Dining Room for Fall. It is the softest color of pink velvet that
I have ever seen. She said it was an esty find, btw.
Finally, let’s head into The Family Room.
Here is the Family Room from the Summer Tour.
As you can see, the colors of this room are perfect for Fall
decor. So, it doesn’t take too much to give it an Autumn touch.
A change of pillows on the sofa…
This gorgeous painted pillow featuring a pheasant was purchased
at Pottery Barn last year during a visit to California to visit
with my dear friend, Kathysue at Good Life of Design.
The furry pillow is my 4th “cat.”
Actually, Baby Lily grooms this pillow and it’s hilarious.
(when I have to start giving it a flea treatment is has to go!)
The large wood tray (Pier1) on the leather-top coffee table
has a vignette which features an heirloom pumpkin under a
cloche, a fall flower arrangement and one of two pheasants
which I have had for years and love!!!!
I never knew I had a “thing” for pheasants until a few years ago.
Another pumpkin in a small oval dough bowl sits on top of
a plaid table cover.
The {faux} fireplace mantel is my second favorite area to
decorate. The wall is adorned with vintage British prints and
maps, and I used a Vietri soup tureen and plates as accents.
You can read how and where I found my Vietri Pottery HERE.
The Belgian cabinet on the opposite side is where we store
and display some of our collection of crystal decanters and stemware.
There are two Willow Wall Baskets* on each side, filled with
Fall florals to include Sorghum stems which I cut from local fields.
More Johnson Brothers plates are placed next to a grapevine orb.
So that’s the end of the tour. I will be adding more projects over
the next few weeks. If you have not already guessed, I love
Fall and everything about it. It’s my favorite time of
the year – when I truly come alive.
Before I say goodbye, I would be remiss if I did not give a shout-out
to my three Assistants. Without their “help” this Tour would
not have been possible.
(How’s that for an Emmy speech?)

Finance Director, The Hubbs
Director of Baby Smiles and Cuddles, Miss C

Hope to see you & Suzy at The Depot again, soon!

BTW, forgot to say that your chalkboard art looks great! I have the same blue chest in my beach place. Love it!
View CommentJeanne says
You have such an eye for the elegant and unusual! LOVE the British hearth, and the Staffordshire dining room dishes, so unusual. Since I live in the Northeast, I’ve never seen “real” cotton on the stem. Are the sprays and wreath “real” from the field, or a wonderful faux? Either way, very nice and different. I get such inspiration from these house tours, and have my own houseful of treasures, but seemingly no time or energy (after work & commute totaling 11 hrs. M-F) to change things up. However, I AM inspired!
Regards from Greater Boston!
