A Fall Farmhouse Foyer
The Foyer in our Southern Home gets decorated for Fall with touches of Farmhouse – a dough bowl, a rooster, and a cotton accented wreath come together in blues and neutrals.
Our Foyer is an unusual space in our home. It is long and narrow but has equal space on each side of the front door. On the right side when you enter I have a bow front chest that was actually given to me. Yes! As in FREE. Above that chest is a blue-toned arched metal mirror. I change this space often to reflect the seasons. This year – I used a white rooster and a dough bowl as anchors for my Fall Farmhouse Foyer Vignette.
Before I share our Foyer I wanted to let you know I am participating in Falltober.
A fun inspiration party celebrating both Fall and Halloween Projects. Please make sure you visit some of the blogs below.
Several years ago, I ran across two white Roos. I looked at them, loved them immediately and decided I didn’t need any more Roos. I mean, didn’t I just de-Roo my home a few years earlier when Roos were no longer the rage?
Yes. I had. So why would I even consider putting two Roos in my cart? I walked around the store (I was in Marshall’s) and it’s as if those darn Roos were crowing out my name. Like they were highly perturbed that I had not put them in my shopping buggy straight away and taken them directly home.
Somewhere around the bath mats and gourmet soaps, I gave in and decided I would buy just ONE Roo. Just one. I concluded because it was all white, I could use it throughout the year. I happily plopped one into the buggy, and bid the second Roo good luck and so long.
I continued shopping. Some gourmet olives. A cute new purse. You know how it is in Marshall’s. You may have a lace bra piled up with a container of gourmet coffee and a cute new toothbrush with a Ninja Turtles handle – all in the same haul. Then, there was my new white Roo in all his simple, farmhouse glory.
I already had several vignettes running through my mind. A Summer tablescape with a large wooden tray; Christmas in my kitchen with Roo sporting a red berry “necklace.” I didn’t even feel guilty that I had gotten rid of several other Roos and was bringing yet another one home. Nope, didn’t feel guilty at all.
But that single, lonely Roo in my cart kept staring at me. Pleading with me – don’t leave my buddy behind. NO I admonished him! You two will only fight with each other and I can’t handle cock fights in my dining room. It’s too stressful. He would not hear of it though.
Finally, I gave in. Shopping Buggy Roo looked so forlorn. How could I possibly separate the two? That’s about the time it hit me. What if Still On the Shelf Roo had become someone else’s Shopping Buggy Roo? I was panicked. I quickly excited the luggage section and hurried over to the aisle where Shelf Roo had been abandoned. Yes, me. The Farmer’s Daughter who abandoned a Roo!! #sinful My Shopping Buggy Roo perked up. His buddy was still there. Was that a smile on his sweet, little face?
On the way home, I smiled. Roos may not be a “thing” for some. Roos may be considered outdated or out of style. But to this Farm Girl, Roos will always be in style. Especially when they are all white and look simply amazing in a vintage dough bowl filled with pumpkins and gourds and berries.
I am a simple gal. Little things make me happy. Like finding a cute purse at a really good price, a comfy pair of shoes, gourmet olives and deciding that if one Roo was good – then two were better.
You know what else makes me smile? Finding the most gorgeous blue floral table runner that I have ever seen and knowing it will be perfect in our foyer with a white Roo.
I have to share a special gift that a sweet blogger gave me. I saw it and fell immediately in love with it. See this pretty French Stripe Pillow with “Hello Fall” embroidered on it?
Lisa from Farmhouse on Boone gave this to me and I don’t know if she realized just how perfect it would be in my home. It’s the perfect blue that looks amazing – especially with my velvet chairs in the background.
You absolutely HAVE to visit her SHOP.
