This warmer weather is getting to me. I have veggies and herbs on the brain.
The garden is calling me and saying it’s almost time to get some fresh dirt under my fingernails. I’ve been pouring through seed and plant catalogs and have purchased way too many garden magazines. I spent the morning deciding on some new plants I wanted to add to my Bee Garden. I am also adding more butterfly-friendly plants as well. So with coffee in one hand and my debit card in the other – Barb was a busy gal.
I want to share the cute arrangement I added to our coffee counter – to celebrate the arrival of Spring.
Spring Lettuce in a Farmhouse Bowl
…………………………………….
I am rather proud of myself. Some would say I should be disappointed, but I’m not. You see – I have a dish-hoarding problem. I admit it, I do. But, one of the agreements I made with myself was NO MORE NEW DISHES until I weeded out some of the ones I didn’t use, no longer liked, or was a space stealer. Well, THAT hasn’t happened. Yet. It’s on my to-do list, but this crazy little thing called life gets in the way. I needed new bedsheets and went to Marshall’s.
I know! FIRST mistake. Second mistake was meandering thru the dish aisle.
And sitting right there – in all it’s cute glory, sat this little blue, knobbed bowl that begged me to take it home with me. Kinda like a little puppy with sad puppy-dog eyes at a pound. HOW could I possibly say no, right?
I should be filled with guilt.
{Fellow dish lovers, I know you understand my plight.}
Besides, I had just purchased a pair of these darling faux lettuce plants at Michael’s and I needed something to put one in. I wanted to add a touch of Spring to our coffee counter.
I plopped in the lettuce, surrounded it with moss and added a few speckled eggs. I thought the lettuce needed a cute lookout…
… so I cut out two bunny shapes from some vintage book pages and glued them onto a simple twig.
Ok, maybe a bunny isn’t the best idea for a “lookout” in this mini lettuce patch, but he sure is darn cute. I think it’s the perfect touch of Spring to our coffee counter. Speaking of…
I’ve been using my French Press a lot lately. I forget what a glorious cup of coffee it makes.
I love this little area now. It makes me happy. And isn’t this the sweetest little tin?
It isn’t actually holding seeds, it holds my coffee filters. I brought this back with me from our last trip to England.
I was quite the happy camper yesterday…planning and ordering seeds and herbs, drinking my coffee, and cherishing my new little, blue bowl. All while in my jammies.
And no, there wasn’t a guilty feeling to be found all day. 🙂
Thank you for letting me share my new Farmhouse Bowl and Spring-decorated coffee counter. I will be sharing my Farmhouse Kitchen decorated for Spring in a few weeks.
xxoo, Barb

Just too cute! I thought the lettuce was real! And love the bowl – I do have dish quilt – should never walk through Home Goods dishes, but it’s like a magnet pulls me right in! I’m now on the lookout to create a lettuce/egg/bunny bowl for my kitchen.

I know EXACTLY what you’re saying about the dishes and “cute” things in the dish area(s). I love your blue bowl, and I think the faux lettuce, eggs, and bunny are as cute as can be. It really does dress and Spring Up your coffee area. It looks charmingly BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing.

Barb, this is the cutest thing I’ve seen this spring! I CANNOT believe that lettuce isn’t real. Seriously! I’m going to look for some. And now my wheels are turning. . . I’m thinking your book page bunny would also look really cute sitting on some wheat grass! I’ll just be careful to make only one, because you know what happens when there’s more than one bunny around!

Barb, you and your sister were so thoughtful to go and help your dear Mom. I’m sure she just loved having her girls paint, decorate, etc. for her! No wonder you are tired! That was a lot of work.
Just love your blue bowl. It is just so cute and what a great Spring arrangement you have made for your coffee bar! That lettuce head looks so real! I am going to try to find one here at our Michael’s! I’m going to make that cute little bunny, too! You just have so many wonderful ideas for all of us! We really appreciate everything you do for us, Barb.
Hope you can just stay in your jammies for a few more days and just relax.
Bless you, Barb, for being such a special gal.

You’ve convinced me. I need a lookout bunny —-on top of some lettuce—– that is nestled in a cute blue bowl. Thanks for the inspiration. Off to Marshall’s —-and Michael’s. 🙂 Susie from The Chelsea Project

Should I say the lettuce looks so real?, lol Wonder if our Michaels has some of that? Would be pretty in nice bowl like yours. Oh wait, I bought a mixing/measuring bowl at Walmart with cute print on it, that might work. Certainly not as cute and perfect as your pretty blue hob nail bowl ,
doggone it.
Do think I need to make a cute bunny on a stick like yours. What a cute idea. Dressing up your coffee station for Spring, why not?
Now I really want to head to Michaels and maybe Goodwill just to see what they have. Should wait til Wed.tho for senior discount.
Have wonderful Spring week

Barb,
View CommentThis is adorable. I love bunnies and I love book page projects, and I have already made some “twine covered carrots” so I will put some lettuce in my shiny copper colander and add the lettuce, carrots, and a bunny!
So cute!

Oh twine-covered carrots was on my to-do list but time got away from me. I have seen some in stores and loved them. Your little arrangement will be darling. Have a beautiful day! xxoo, Barb
