BBQ.
If you come through NC and don’t experience this pulled pork delicacy
at least once, you have missed a yummy staple in the Tarheel diet.
There is a great State debate on who’s BBQ is the best. Each local region has
their own variation and their own specialty sauce. Even the coleslaw which
accompanies the meat varies from area to area with NC. So, it was a little
surprising when we recently tried a new BBQ joint and fell in LOVE because
they carried “other” varieties of sauces. WHAT??!!!
I want to share this place with you…
NC Travels: MISSION BBQ
I will tell you. When I first heard about this place and that they
featured all kinds of different sauces from all over the Country – I was like…
“Huh? Other sauces???” 😀 But, I love that when we go there – we get to
take a little culinary stroll thru the South via BBQ sauces.
But, do you know what I love best about Mission BBQ?
Here is part of their “Mission Statement.”
“MISSION BBQ opened its doors for business on September 11, 2011.
Ten years after our world changed forever, in some small way we wanted to change
it back. As the founders of MISSION BBQ, we strive every day to remind everyone what makes
Our Country great—it’s heroes.”
Mission BBQ was started by two Patriotic and USA-loving friends who
wanted to show our American heros how proud we are of them. Military,
Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMT’s. ALL of our heroes. If you happen
to to be eating at Mission BBQ at noon time, you can expect to take part in
the Pledge of Allegiance. How great is that??? They also give back to the
community in a large way through the USO, The Semper Fi Fund, and Honor
Flight, just to name a few worthy organizations.
I love supporting companies and corporations who give back.
And if you can dine out at great BBQ joints and use a card that gives back
at the same time – I call that a win-win. Chase is now participating in a
program that will donate $0.10 to the AARP Foundation for every restaurant
purchase made with your AARP® Credit Card from Chase in support of
AARP’s Foundation’s Drive To End Hunger – up to a total of $1.1 million.
Many Seniors across the Country face malnutrition and hunger every day.
Many have to make the choice between buying medications – and eating.
Together, Chase and the AARP Foundation are fighting hunger and putting
food on the tables of Americans 50+. As of May 2016, Chase is up to $637,633,
let’s help them reach their goal just by using your AARP Credit Card.
