Did you hear me heavy sigh yesterday?
September 1st.
I know it’s still sweltering in some parts of the country,
and I know it’s still officially “Summer” –
but to me… to me it’s officially Fall in my mind.
The Fall bins are out and while I was opening them last night,
The Hubbs said I sounded like I was greeting long-lost friends.
“Well. hello you beautiful pumpkins you! How have you been?”
I can’t wait to start sharing some Fall projects with you.
But for now, Dawn with Creative Cain Cabin is here to show
you how she displays a beautiful tray in her kitchen.
Styling a Kitchen Tray
Hi – this is Dawn with Creative Cain Cabin and I am
happy to be back with another Guest Post here
at The Everyday Home.
I am so happy to share with you how I style a pretty
blue tray in my kitchen…with everyday edibles.
Don’t overlook styling the simplest things in your home.
I wanted to show you today how you can stylishly display your
non refrigerated edible fruit and vegetables in your kitchen.
Just because you leave them out doesn’t mean they have to be
unattractive or just look like a pile of groceries on you counter that
you never put away.
Here’s what I did, I started by adding a very large turquoise tray that
I found on the clearance rack at HL, and layered it with vintage
Pyrex dishes, melamine plates, and a coffee mug filled with
fresh-cut herbs.
I visit the store at least 3 times a week for fresh produce and I find if
I can display it in a beautiful edible arrangement my family will snack
on apples, and cherry tomatoes rather than grab a handful of chips.
It’s my sneaky way of adding more good things into their diet. And if
I have fresh-cut herbs on hand I tend to cook with them more or just
add a handful to any salad dish.
It’s amazing how pretty fresh produce can be, it makes for
a splash of dashing color on my kitchen island.

Thanks Dawn! I love this idea!
I know when I keep fresh fruits or nuts or healthier
snacks handy and out in the open, my grandbabies –
and my and The Hubbs, too – are more likely to grab the good stuff.

What a superb post-loving the photos and the no fail simplicity is so impressive- In a strange way you are just saying: “Use What You Have.” Fruits-Flowers -Herbs-GREAT!
In my decorating tips I often encourage using things from one’s grocery list-you have texture, color, contrast and you don’t have to pack it away in the attic when the season is over!
