“Big Girl Pizza”
Sunday.
A day for prayer and rest and rejuvenation.
Down time.
Relaxing time.
Get ready for the next week time.
Um….yea. Not at The Everyday Home.
It’s usually Game Day. Especially during football season.
We are all excited for The Big Game next week. And this year is
pretty exciting for us. Let’s just say we were “influenced” when we
lived in COLORADO – if that gives you any indication of what
team we are pulling for.
Game Day here means FOOD.
Wings and Dips and Chips and Pizza.
Lots of pizza. This house is full of some pizza-eating champs.
But, honestly – if we called out for delivered pizza I would have to
take out a small loan. That is why I make my own.
I was more than happy when Walmart and DiGiorno asked me to
spread the word about their roll-back prices on some of
their fabulous pizza varieties:
Rising Crust Pepperoni, Rising Crust Sausage,
Rising Crust Supreme, Three Meat or 4 Cheese
All of these pizzas are rolled back $4.50 off!!!
That means I can buy a pizza for almost everyone in the house
who wants their own style. Yoohoo.
Shish-boom-bah!
Now, I love pizza. But, leave it to me to not leave anything alone.
I actually love to take the DiGiorno Four-Cheese Pizza and
let’s say – “dress it up” a bit.
The Hubbs calls it my “Big Girl Pizza.”
Here’s all you need:
(1) Four-Cheese DiGiorno Pizza
(1) Jar Roasted Red Peppers
(1) Bundle of Whole Baby Spinach
(1) Container Crumbled Feta Cheese
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
Italian Seasonings
Olive Oil
It could not be easier to prepare…
Simply layer on the baby spinach right over the unbaked cheese pizza.
Add about a cup of coarsely chopped roasted red pepper. Mince garlic
and spread over pizza evenly.
Sprinkle Italian Seasonings and drizzle some olive oil on top.
Bake according to package.
During the last 5 mins, sprinkle the feta cheese and place back into
the oven so the cheese with soften a bit. Once its out of the oven,
I like to give it another generous drizzle of olive oil.
As Hannibal Lector would say… “goes well with a nice glass of chianti.”
I hope you will try my version of homemade gourmet pizza.
And I also hope that whatever team you are pulling for –
you get your wish!
(well…at least half of you will be happy)
Make sure you make a trip to Walmart to take advantage of
their fantastic roll-back prices on DiGiorno pizza, too.
