I love the magic of Christmas.
I love that upon hearing Bing Crosby and the ting-ting of
sleigh-bells – I get all warm and fuzzy inside.
I love that children know it’s Christmas, and although they
may be too young to understand what the true meaning
of Christmas is –
they understand that it’s a special time.
All around The Everyday Home – everywhere you look –
the walls have been decked and there is a touch of
Fa in every La you can find. My hubbs says that if the cats lay
in one place too long, they will be wrapped in magnolia and
tied with a plaid bow.
The All Things Home Tour: Home for the Holidays starts today
and I am so excited to visit 30 blogs/homes and see their
Christmas splendor over the next five days. First on the list is
Suzy with Worthing Court. Please visit her to start your tour.
So, I decided to use one of my Paris wicker trunks and create a
Magnolia and Birch Log Lighted Basket. I love these
projects that have so much impact in a room, yet take literally
minutes to put together.
You could create the same look with any large basket or
wicker-type trunk…
I added some filler at the bottom so my birch logs would sit
higher up in the basket.
I found these logs at Lowe’s.
They are not complete logs, but they are still pretty.
Stems of fresh magnolia were placed around the edge.
You could use cedar or pine or any kind of greenery.
Next, I added lights. I just shoved them right in between the logs
and the greenery…
It’s pretty already, huh?
I decided to add some “snowballs” which I had from last year.
(I bought these at Michael’s.)
They’re simply bunched up cotton batting.
It was the perfect finishing touch.
A traditional plaid bow tied in the mantel.
I ,also, added a small package at the base…
A brown box tied with a jute bow and a hand-stamped tag.
When I share the tour of my home this Thursday,
you will find these Dollar Tree glittered-deer throughout
my home. I love these guys!
I just love the soft glow of this basket as the twinkling lights
swirl around the greenery and the snowballs.
I also added another small touch to the hearth which you
could easily duplicate. It did not cost me a single penny.
#usewhatyouhavedecorating
I started with a small black urn and layered the edge
with fresh magnolia leaves.
Now, this next part is pretty hard – so pay close attention.
Pour mini red Christmas ornaments inside the urn.
(i added some filler at the bottom fyi)
Just round them up on top of the leaves.
I used all red but you could use any color or any mixture
of colors and any size.
I am amazed that I can spend hours on a project – then
spend literally minutes on another project such as this one –
and it becomes one of my faves.
It’s the simplicity that speaks to me.
(and the fact that it was free!)
I would love for you to pin these projects to your
favorite Pinterest Christmas Boards.
Don’t forget I will be sharing my

Hmm new cowboy boots for my daughter, hers have split their seams. Scrapbook stuff for me, maybe a new video game or two for my son and nice night out for hubby and me.

I would probably use the $600 towards Christmas gifts. If not, I need to do some decorative things to my living room.

I would probably use it toward a new oven. Mine picks crazy times to go all wonky on me and has been doing that for at least 3 years. 🙁 Great giveaway!
