I apologize if you are tired of me saying that
I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!
I love the excitement circulating through
our home, as we prepare for an onslaught
of my crazy but much beloved
Southern Family coming for
Thanksgiving dinner.
I love that in a few short days, I will
start my baking and prepping, as well as, getting out all the plates and glasses and such.
I love that I can already smell the sage
and the poultry seasonings and homemade
cornbread baking in the oven…
I can already taste my Pumpkin-Butterscotch
Mousse with Ginger Snaps
(I will share this easy recipe Thursday)
and Caramel-Macchiato Banana Pudding.
But most of all, I can hear the laughter of
my grandchildren, hear my Mama brag
about her collards (my Mama is the
“official” Collard Queen) –
and here my Daddy joke that there is
enough food to feed an Army.
And I love that all of these memories in the
making will take place at our home.
During the Southern Bloggers Conference
last month, I had the pleasure of going to
Suzanna’s Antiques in Raleigh.
(if you have never been here, you have no clue
what you are missing!)
In their shop, they had this huge basket of
printing blocks. I have a few others.
I dug through the basket until I found the
above letters.
Four letters which spell such a
powerful word.
I am happy to announce a new adventure
in my life.
(Like being a full-time Blogger
wasn’t enough?) 🙂
I am working out the details, and
keeping my fingers crossed that a major
sponsor I am in communications with
is on board with me.
I hope to launch my first online
show right after Thanksgiving.
I’ll keep you updated. I would
love to have you join me.
So how did your week start out?

HOME!!! Yes, a very powerful and important word. Especially to someone who moved about all of her childhood . My children , home and the Mr. are the most important things in my life.
View CommentThanksgiving… we are hardly ever home for it. Usually on a cruise in the Caribbean, or at a resort in Orlando when the boys were little… this year we plan on being in St. Augustine Florida. Dinner will be done by some rest. But I am planning to make a full on turkey meal for the Sunday after. I am feeling a longing for turkey and all the trimmings!!!
Good luck on the new venture 🙂 Looking forward…
Cheers, Gee

Hi my sweet friend! I love the word HOME, too. What a lot of impact packed into 4 small letters. Way beyond what one would believe.
View CommentWould you believe we celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday because all of our kids could be here? We did- and it was wonderful and just a little weird to be celebrating so early.
Congrats on your new adventure! I am looking forward to it- xo Diana

Reading your words made my mouth start watering! I am going to bake the cornbread today for our dressing. It needs to be “old” to work the best. 🙂 And oh how I love fresh collard greens and they are soooooo good for you too. Hope you will give us the recipe for the bread pudding….yum!
