The Best Paint for Furniture?
It may very well be the question of the decade?
Latex, Chalk, Milk, Spray?
So many brands and options to choose from.
So many styles and looks and
levels of loverly-ness.

As many of you know, I had a
not-so-loverly experience with painting
my own kitchen hutch.
I don’t blame it on the paint.
I blame it on that darn brush!
haha….No, I blame it on my inability
to decide what I like best.
Gee, have you heard that before on
The Everyday Home?
“Miss Indecision”
That’s me.
Even Annie Sloan herself emailed me
to offer some tips and advice.

What I have discovered is that I really
do love distressed painted pieces.
Like this beautiful armoire-turned-bar above.
LOVE with a capital “Ohhhhhh”
I love the painted/glazed effect of this
“loverly” piece above.
I see something like the above piece and
think – yes! That is what I want my
breakfast room hutch to look like.
think – yes! That is what I want my
breakfast room hutch to look like.
And then I see this –
Simply painted, all in white.
No distressing, no glaze, no anything
but simple white paint.
And just when I think I have made up my
mind for good –
no going back –
no changey the mindey…
I see this –
And it starts all over again.
Miss Indecision has gotten married and is
now called Mrs. Indecision.
Yup, that’s me.
In the end, in my mind I see a hutch painted
with a combination of paints and techniques
similar to this cabinet above.
Some solid, some distressed.
Kind like me.
Haha

Oh yea, if you want to leave a comment
about what you think I should do
with my hutch that would be nice, too.
Keep in mind that this is where my breakfast
room hutch it is located….
And here is a closeup of the cute little
blue cabinet you see on the far wall…
More loverly-ness.
I can’t wait to read your comments

I’m no help. You’ll make it good great whatever you decide.
as for me- I’m just sticking with my g’dad’s way. sand smooth- tack cloth- 3 coats of satin.. He was a believer in a beautiful paint job and passed that on to me. Maybe one day it’ll come back in vogue and until it does I’ll just be the ” Rogue Painter” lol..
