I am blessed is so many ways. One of the many blessings in my life is the fact that my mother is still alive and well. She is 73, and most people think she is in her 60’s. I have always said my mom, under different circumstances in life, could have been an international clothes designer. Her skills with making and creating clothes and her seamstress abilities are mind boggling. All self-taught. I, on the other hand, did not seem to inherit her sewing gene as I can hardly sew a straight line. I cringe when she comes over and sees my latest sewing projects, but she never says a word.
Just a few days before Thanksgiving (and a few days before my kidney stone attack), I met my mother and my Aunt, her sister – in town for lunch. We could hardly eat fast enough because afterwards we heading over to our local Pottery. It is a huge store that comes alive with Christmas spirit that literally spills out the doors. The building is chock-a-block full of about 20 different displays and themes of holiday decor. I took a “few” pictures (ok, I took more than a few pics as you will see) to share with you. It really is a fascinating place and the pics do not do justice to many of the displays – especially the trees.
This is a collection of faux chocolates and candies. TRULY fat free! I realized that I have a collection of faux cakes and candies/cookies. I will write a blog thread about that later.
I love this gathering of red and white yarn balls in the rustic green box. How cute would this look by your fireplace, and so easy to make yourself.
This place is known for its beautiful wreaths and arrangements. I get a lot of inspiration from their works of art.
I love this flocked tree. So pretty and wintery!
I was especially drawn to this area with the blacks, creams and gold vintage themed decor. I really liked the small gathering on the cake plate. (seen below)
A collection of glittered pine cone topiaries.
These would be super easy to recreate. Just add craft glue to the tips of pine cones, roll in glitter, and place on top of decorative small urns or candle holders. A grouping creates a festive statement.
These were stocking holders. But, again…very easy to recreate with mini pre-made wreaths and small urns.
Glittery topiaries…so pretty!
Just one of the many trees and themed areas…
A beautiful tabletop in bronze…
(sorry the picture is a little blurry)
Since we are minutes from the Beach, so I’m sure this Beach-themed tree is a huge hit.
I love how the top of this hutch is painted and decorated with netting and shells.
More Beach themed decor….
I hope you enjoyed seeing the pics from our local outing. Have a great weekend everyone!
Blessings, Barb

Hi Barb…Well, I would say that you need to take it easy, but you seem to have had your mother’s permission to be out and about! Thanks for the pretty tour! Rest up now…Debbie

Melissa – yes, yes – I promise after the holidays slow down a bit we will meet for lunch and finally meet. I am so excited at the opportunity to actually meet a fellow blogger. (You have probably seen my ads for real estate in the local papers!) Yes, don’tcha just love NRP? Have they started their sale yet? That place is maddening when they do. You better bring weaponry – but we Marine wives have been taught well. Ha!

Deb – the trip and these pics were taken about 3 days before Thanksgiving and my attack. I had planned to do an “introduction” to the Christmas season post. Oh well, hopefully better late than never, right? Take care and have a great weekend. Hugs, Barb

How wonderful that you get to hang out with your fun mother! I’m always envious when people post about hanging out with parents because I lost mine about 15 years ago. ENJOY EVERY MINUTE you have together! The decorations are inspirational and like you, I always look at things like that and try and figure out how to re-create them! Glad you’re feeling better. Susan

I’m glad you are feeling better. I enjoyed the photos…but I must say, the faux chocolate is the only kind of chocolate that would be safe in my house.

Hi Barb, Your id caught my attention on Nancy’s blog. I love grits! LOL! Really, I do! 🙂 And then I clicked on your blog and saw that you are from NC. I am too! I live on the other side of Wilmington, in Columbus County, and my husband has a business in Wilmington. Being that your husband is a Marine, I can narrow down what area you are from and know that we are distant neighbors! LOL! I enjoyed my visit to your blog. And I hope that you are recuperating well! Drop in for a visit over at my blog sometime, if you get a chance! 🙂 ~Rhonda
