Just a few of my lovelies…
(below pic) I have only recently become more and more interested in black and white transferware. I only acquired a few pieces while in Europe. But, two of my favorite pieces of black and white were purchased at the Paris Flea Market. It is two plates with scenes depicting Napoleon. These plates are hung next to an antique print of Lord Kitchener.
(below pic) I know you have seen this pic before – but this is an example of a plate I recently won on eBay. Its the large square plate. It’s not an antique, not even vintage – but I love it all the same.
(below pic) Roosters and Plates? They go together like Yeng and Yang, Wally and Beave, Sonny and Cher (no wait – that didn’t end too well) – um, Peanut Butter and Jelly…..
(below pic) This hutch is in my Morning Room. It is filled with pieces of my blue and white collection. The smaller plates on the wall were purchased in Tongeren, Belgium (another huge flea market!) – but meant so much to me because they were part of the Staffordshire “Americana” collection depicting such scenes as Betsy Ross sewing the American flag. I’m sure the vendor from whom I purchased them did not understand my almost giddy glee upon finding and purchasing these treasures.
And now for my “babies”….
(below pic) These plates make me happy. I happened upon them in, of all places, Ross. There were only two of them. I had a feeling there were more as plates such as these are generally issued as sets. I posted my “find” on the HGTV message board I frequent, and much to my surprise – someone posted back that she had seen these very plates at her local Ross in Texas, and she thought there were six of them. She offered to go back the next day and buy them and send them to me. Can you beleive that? What a sweetie! She emailed me that she was only able to get three, as the other two were the same as mine and one was gone. (Now WHO would buy just one plate?) We made arrangements and she shipped them to me. Sadly, one arrived broken in half, and I just need to repair it. Visitor’s who come to my home are not quite sure what to make of them.
You either love them or….

LOL – back away from the cat plates and no one gets hurt! 🙂
View CommentIts been a while, probably about 2 yrs. I will look on the back though and see who made them and maybe we can Google them. (why have I not thought of that before?)
There’s gotta be more of them out there. They are handpainted, but these could not have been the only set – unless Ross is now dealing with one-of-a-kinds. LOL

Barb, it is so good to know that someone else gets sidetracked and forgets what they’re suppossed to be shopping for. What a funny shopping trip, I loved the story. Marty

Oh Barb, I am cracking up!What do they say about something being funnier because of being able to relate to it. I totally understand! I do stuff like that all the time. I am not as good as you were I bring it home with me. I love transferware also. I change it out in my kitchen seasonally. I use blue in the summer for the coolness, pink/red in the spring because of pink spring flowers and also at Christmas.I now have black and white in there for the fall. I am using it on my Thanksgiving table. you are a hoot, and I love the way your personality comes off the page. I am looking forward to MORE, Hugs to you my friend, kathysue

What kind of medication are you on that made you put those plates back Barb? I need some. truly. As I type this I glance into my butlers pantry where there are about a dozen bags of plates and glasses waiting to be returned. I was afraid not to buy them because I had convinced myself they would certainly be gone when and if I came back! I think my hubby secretly bought this particular home for its lack of plate displaying wall space! Do you think those cat plates come in dogs?
